Dunn Rite Optical was founded in 2016 by Robert Dunn, an American Board of Opticianry Certified Optician and National Contact Lens Examiner.

With 35 years of optical experience, Robert Dunn provides you with the best eye care possible, with various options to suit your unique style and budget.

Currently, Dunn Rite Optical offers services by appointment, and occasionally on mobile trips and at expos.

Meet Robert Dunn

My roots lie in Connecticut, where I was born and raised. In 1987 I graduated from the Rochester Institute of technology with my major in Optical Finishing Technology. Then, in 1992 I obtained my ABO Certification, and 22 years later, obtained NCLE Certification.

For a short time I took a hiatus from the Optical business to work in the Video Relay Service, where I would become a regional manager handling territories all throughout the Southeast US. Even though I received top honors and awards in sales and customer service, my heart brought me back to the profession I began almost 3 decades earlier. In 2010, I returned to the optical field, which has always been my passion.

My dream was finally realized when I opened my own company, Dunn Rite Optical, LLC April 1, 2016. My goal has always been to provide the highest quality lenses and frames that the market has offer, as well as providing my clients with new insight regarding their eye care and optical needs. I take a very holistic and artistic approach when providing these services, and I always make sure that my clients glasses not only look great and suit them well, but also match their lifestyle.

To ensure that I was keeping up with the latest optical technology, I became a fully licensed optician in Massachusetts. In Spring 2018, I obtained a Florida license after moving to Saint Augustine.

My clientele is a wide variety of people and I am most proud to be providing these services to the Deaf community, who are generally overlooked by the mainstream. I am always inspired to hear from my clients that they finally felt their choices were explained in a clear and concise manner. Helping my clients make educated decisions for their eye care is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. I started Dunn Rite Optical to serve my these clients, and will be around for a very long time.

For over 30 years I have worked in optical labs all along the East coast; in New York, Massachusetts, and Florida. Eventually I moved to Saint Augustine, FL which is ranked four out of five for the largest population of Deaf/hard of hearing people in the United States.
